Terminus: I can't tell where I end and you begin
This site specific installation piece creates a ceiling-less room made from second-hand and locally sourced doors. The doors are functional, each hung on a frame and can be opened, closed and walked through by the viewing public, resulting in a transitional space with permeable walls, an architectural membrane.
This piece was created for the 2008 Fine Art Graduate Exhibition at the University of Reading and recreated anew for the Beirut Art Centre’s curated group exhibition ‘Exposure’ in 2009.
At the BAC it gained a greater depth of playful architectural interaction being situated in the main exhibition space positioned between supporting pillars of the first floor mezzanine and directly beneath the skylights. As before, each door hung on a frame, was functional inviting the viewing public to touch and interact, challenging typical “don’t touch the art” gallery conventions.
